The Garfield campus offers counseling for students with disabilities. You can meet with a DSPS Counselor throughout the semester and they can assist you with working towards your educational goals.

Additionally, the DSPS Counselor can assist with:

  • Finding community resources for various disabilities, for example:
    • Transportation
    • Housing
  • Getting reasonable accommodations in your classes, for example:
    • Note-taking services
    • Special Equipment
    • Longer time on tests
  • Getting a Learning Disability Assessment
  • Academic and Career Counseling

Students interested in scheduling an appointment with the DSPS Counselor can go to the Career & Counseling Center (Mariposa Building, Room 221) and ask for an appointment. You can also call 818-240-1000 ext. 5035 or 5099 to schedule.

If you are a staff or faculty member and have questions about how to refer a student to DSPS, you can speak with the DSPS Counselor who will guide you with this process.

For more information about the DSPS Office, you can review the full website and list of services, as well as workshops, here.
