Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate

Glendale Community College offers two tracks for the nurse assistant training program. The first is a day offering which is a 15 week, and the evening course which is 16 weeks.

Both courses are comprised of 60 classroom hours, and 100 clinical hours for a total of 160 hours of training.

Students are required to attend all classes and pass with an 75% or better to be eligible to take the California state exam for licensure as a Certified Nurse Assistant.

Clinical hours are required and are held at a facility in Montrose, California.

Classes Start Spring 2025

Initial Application due by: October 23rd, 2024
Orientation: November 13th, 2024
Classes begin: February 18th, 2025

Required Coursework

The Online NATP prepares students to sit for the certified nurse assistant’s exam. Nurse aides are responsible for helping patients with activities of daily living, assisting with personal hygiene, maintaining a safe, clean environment, and communicating vital health information about a patient’s condition to other medical staff who supervise their work. Students in this program should expect to attend 60 hours of interactive lectures via Zoom, frequent homework assignments, individual projects, and case presentations. Student should be prepared to attend all 100 clinical hours in person.

Regarding the evening program students should note the following Modules 1-6, 12 & 14 are required to be eligible to take part in the clinical experience of the course. Due to the condensed nature of the evening course, any day that contains one of the required modules will NOT be eligible for make up time. If a student misses a day containing a required module, the student must defer to the next semester offering.

The nurse assisting program is sponsored by a grant administered by Los Angeles Regional Consortium and Title V. This allows us to provide tuition free education to students.

Class size is limited to 15 with no more than 15 students at each clinical site. Priority is given to completers of Program Requirements.
